Elegance - Speed - Focus
Combined Driving consists of three fases. Dressage - Marathon - Cones
Dressage
In the dressage all competitors drive according to a set program. They are judged on the horses obedience, lightness, suppleness and regularity. The judges also take in to account how the driver uses his/her aids.
Dressage is a pleasure to watch where horses and drivers present themselves in their finest clothes, harnesses and carriages, often according to tradition. |
Marathon
Marathon is the stamina test of this sport. It consists of three phases.
In the A-phase there is a minimum and maximum time limit, in between which you need to reach the finish line. Then there is a walk/transportation-phase and a break before the B-phase begins. The B-phase contains the action! The teams are to drive as fast as possible through solid obstacles. Lettered gates needs to be passed in the right order, but different routes can be chosen. The shorter the time spent in the obstacle, the less penalties. |

Cones
In the cones you need to thread carefully.
The course consists of numbered cones, set in pairs. On each cone lies a ball that should remain there. The width between the cones varies according to difficulty. Fastest through the course, without knocking any balls down, wins this leg of the race. |
